That You May Know - The Gospel of Luke

This Sunday we are back into our series on Hebrews, covering chapter 8. We will discover the extent to which Jesus Christ went to become our Great High Priest, what that looks like to live our daily lives with such a priest, and the daily blessing of the new covenant set up by God.

For generations, Christians have found comfort in the promise of heaven: a place with no more tears, pain, or sorrow. We’ve sung it at funerals and whispered it at gravesides — “When we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory.” But what if our hope is more than simply going to heaven?
In this message we’ll explore what Scripture really teaches about our eternal future. Is heaven simply an escape from this world—or is God’s plan far richer, involving the renewal of all creation?  We’ll discover how Jesus’ resurrection is not just a past event but the beginning of God’s kingdom breaking into history. And we’ll ask: what does it mean to live today as signposts of that coming kingdom?

Heaven is somewhere Christians eagerly anticipate. Join us as we dig in to discover what is so wonderful about heaven and how holding onto the hope of heaven can get us through the tough times today.

What happens when someone you admired in the faith - may be even a pastor, author, or close friend - walks away from Jesus? It’s unsettling. It raises questions we don’t often say out loud: Could that happen to me? Could I lose my salvation? Hebrews 6 confronts this fear with some of the most sobering words in the New Testament. It speaks of people who have “tasted” the goodness of God, who’ve even seen His power at work - yet still turned away. It warns us that tasting is not the same as feasting, and admiring the light is not the same as walking in it.
 
This week we’ll look honestly at the reality of “falling away,” the evidence of true saving faith, and the promise that God keeps those who are truly His. Come ready to examine your heart, take God’s warnings seriously, and be encouraged by the unshakable hope we have in Christ.

This Sunday as the writer of Hebrews compares Melchizedek to Jesus. We see how a story about Melchizedek can help us understand our relationship to Jesus today. Jesus is the high priest that lives forever, because of this we are able to put our hopes and dreams in Him.

Life has a way of pulling us off course. Sometimes it’s slow drift, sometimes it’s sudden storms—but either way, we can find ourselves wondering, “Am I really secure with God? Will my faith hold?”  Hebrews 6 gives us both a sobering warning and a powerful promise. It reminds us that our security doesn’t come from our performance, but from God’s unchanging promise in Christ.
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”  Join us as we explore what it means to be anchored in hope—how to stay steady when life shakes, how to persevere when we feel like giving up, and how Jesus, our forerunner, holds us fast in God’s presence.

When babies are little, milk is exactly what they need. But if an adult still lived only on milk, we’d know something had gone very wrong! That’s the picture Hebrews paints for us when describing Christians who never move beyond the basics of faith. The writer urges us: “By this time you ought to be teachers.”
Spiritual maturity, then, isn’t just about being fed - it’s about reaching the point where we can help feed others. This Sunday we’ll be looking at what that means for us today. We’ll explore what the “milk” of the faith is and why it matters, why we can’t stay on milk forever, and how we grow into maturity by teaching, sharing, and practicing God’s truth.
Be ready to be challenged and encouraged as we take the next step together - from milk to solid food.

During challenging times in our lives, we may struggle to believe that God is really there for us. The people that the author of Hebrews was writing to were no different. These were believers who suffered greatly, being ridiculed, beaten, thrown into jail and the works. The temptation to give up must have been very strong. But the writer challenges his people to grasp on to their Great High Priest, Jesus, the one who supersedes any human high priest because he was without sin. He encourages them to remember the confession they have made.
 
This week we will see the wonder of how a Holy God made a way for unholy people to enter his presence. Yet because of the way he accomplished this through Christ’s suffering, we meet a God who understands our own weaknesses and temptations no matter what life brings our way.

Have you ever paused to wonder if it’s possible to miss out on God’s rest? In Hebrews 4, the writer paints a sobering picture from Israel’s journey through the wilderness, where unbelief kept God’s people from entering the rest he had promised. That same danger, the writer warns, is very real for us today.
 
In this message we’ll journey together into what it truly means to fear unbelief - not a fear that paralyses, but a healthy, reverent awareness that drives us toward faith. We’ll discover how diligence in trusting God’s promises opens the door to a life filled with a rest for our souls that mirrors the Sabbath rest God himself enjoyed from creation.

As we continue our look at Hebrews, this week we reflect on the second warning; Watch out, do not let your heart be hardened!Despite our best efforts, it is not easy for believers to stay fixed on the goal, to keep Jesus as number one in our lives.This week we are encouraged that keeping our eyes on God does not just happen, in fact if we don't take time to set up ways in which we orientate our lives to God, that it is possible for sin to creep in and for our hearts to slowly become hardened.
